It is relatively common for there to be more than one bathroom in a home these days.
More and more people are choosing to have a separate bathroom for the parents and children. This is useful for a number of reasons, least of which is not having to put toiletries and makeup away for women, and maintaining at least one clean and tidy bathroom.
Even if there is not a complete bathroom, an ensuite can act as a second bathroom giving the kids a room to themselves.

As the kids generally use the main bathroom, there is some sense behind decorating the bathroom in a style that they are going to appreciate. In this way they may be encouraged to keep the bathroom in a more desirable condition.
Obviously the age of the children and whether they are boys or girls will determine the style of decorating that is used. Not only will it determine the color scheme but also the kinds of accessories used to enhance the design.
Young children are very playful and energetic when it comes to bath time. For children below the age of ten, the focus should be on color and theme. Bright colors, while not necessarily complementing other areas or rooms within the house, should be encouraged. Quite often a theme will determine what colors are used.
Consider also adding stencils or stickers along the walls surrounding the bath. There are many designs available and they can be easily removed when the children outgrow the theme without damaging the walls. Also these kids like something to occupy themselves with. Consider including an area for bath toys, perhaps a mesh bag over the bath where the water can drain away while storing the toys in one place.
Bathroom design for kids between the ages of 10 and 13 is decidedly minimalist. Kids in this age bracket are generally not interested in spending large amounts of time and effort in the bathroom, so creating a themed bathroom is wasted.
Instead focus on employing a warm color scheme and ensure that there are minimal decorative additions to the room. Kids at this age can start to think of stickers and stencils as boring and reduce the tendency to include bath toys. As an alternative focus on textures and different finishes to create a room they will want to be in.
Kids over the age of 13 spend a fair amount of time in the bathroom, so the decor should be cool, inviting and spacious. Consider color tones that create a relaxed environment and give the kids plenty of space to leave their stuff on bench tops and in cupboards. The doors can always be closed to eliminate the need to be looking at clutter, just ensure the room remains hygienic.
The design and decor of a kids bathroom will vary depending on the age of the kids in the family. The great thing about these bathroom designs is that they can be changed quickly and cheaply without much effort.
