An oft-ignored element of the bathroom is a towel holder. Towel holders are available in many sizes and varieties to suit every kind of bathroom.

Towels are a necessity in the bathroom whether they are for bath and body or just hand towels and there are various kinds available like free standing units, wall mounted bars or rings, corner and floor models, or as a shelf unit.

You can find a range of towel holders in various materials and design to suit your bathroom décor like wood, chrome, plastic, glass, acrylic, metal finishes and even porcelain if you are looking for a feminine, Victorian look. These towel holders can help add a personal touch y to your bathroom.

For example, double towel bars for specialized ‘His’ and ‘Her’ towels add a classic touch to your en suite bathroom. If you have a range of towels in different colors and styles and would like to display them, roll them up and secure the ends by wrapping a ribbon or a piece of linen and stacking these on a towel rack or shelf.

Towel holders or racks must be kept out of the area where excessive water splashing may occur. For combating cooler climates and moisture inherent in the bathroom, heated towel racks are also available in the market. These are similar to the technology used for radiant under-floor heating and are portable, durable and very easy to maintain.

You can also find other alternatives for warming your towels like electrical rail warmers that are filled with oil that is heated by a filament. These operate on very low wattage and are completely safe and energy efficient.

The Hydronic towel drying racks that are basically hard-wired towel bars which are connected to hot water from basic domestic sources like your water heater or a circulating pump in order to warm the towel rails and provide you with warm and toasty towels. These are not only economical on energy but are simple to install and long-lasting.

Some towel holders are also a part of cabinetry, often being inset into the lower half of bathroom cabinets that are placed at a height with the towel rod beneath and at appropriate hand level. The bathroom cabinets that hold all the linen and towels are generally equipped with this fitting.

If you are fond of heavily ornate décor then metal-finished towel bars are available with highly wrought patterns which could even be screwed on as towel bar ends. Painted porcelain can give a delicate look while colored glass /acrylic could go well with a more modern look as can shiny chrome or maybe a brushed, muted metallic effect.

Even brightly colored plastics are finding a place in bathrooms and especially in children’s bathrooms; these are vivid and kid-safe. There are just so many looks possible that a simple accessory like a towel holder and it is indeed possible to co-ordinate all the accessories to give a lift to the look of your bathroom.
