Bathroom Vanity and Sinks – Vanity finds the last word

Is your bathroom a confined cul-de-sac and would you love to transform it into a splendid treat for the senses? We are saying a ‘yes’ and here’s a couple of things that are high on the need-to-know list when planning or remodeling your bathroom.

Firstly we will concentrate on the focal point in your bathroom which in most cases is your vanity. Don’t always imagine a vanity to be a huge thing looming and overshadowing everything else. If you want a bathroom that sports an ultra-modern look all you have to do is co-ordinate all the accessories correctly and you will have arrived.

If you have a small bathroom, you could easily forego the whole vanity space for a smaller sink. Sinks are available in many different styles like the ones with pedestals, corner sinks and wall-hung sinks that are best for small bathrooms; these are all great for economizing space.

If your home is a chic and contemporary one, you can easily amp up your bathroom by having a transparent acrylic sink that come in a variety of finishes and colors and co-ordinate all the accessories like the trap, towel hanger, brackets all in chrome plated brass or stainless steel, the juxtaposition of metal and glass is a beautiful combination and fits very well in modern settings. There are also glass sinks but these are a bit more fragile and you can go in for them if you don’t have young children in your home.

If you have a slightly larger space and you are fond of period interiors those old-fashioned Victorian vanities are an excellent choice. Teaming them up with a lovely antique mirror will not only work for your theme but make your bathroom look even larger. Often these vanities also come with their own stools that match the vanity and look extremely quaint. Even country-themed hand-painted vanities are available if you want a slightly rustic, more frayed look. Larger vanities also have ample storage space to stock all your bathroom accessories and bath products and keep the clutter out of sight.

Wooden vanities are a stylish addition to bathrooms and can be used and there is no need to stress about any warping or bad effects of moisture, wooden vanities are generally chemically treated to fight against these problems including termites and you can choose between lots of different wooden finishes and they are a very enduring option.

You can play around with the materials of the sink and the countertop or with the bathroom accessories to give your bathroom a complete makeover. Think about bath furniture, faucets, basins, rails, or mirrors and by fixing these to match with your vanity your whole bathroom can be tied together in harmony.

Lastly a bathroom is a very personal space and also a place whose look defines the status of the home. Make sure the first thing a person sees, which is your vanity is the best thing in your bathroom. Co-ordinate it with the rest of your interiors and keep it neat and tidy and you have a recipe for success.
